As a result [livejournal.com profile] kebechet's recent entry..

..my mind decided to sink it's teeth into the subject of football fandom from an entirely psuedosociological/anthropological standpoint. You have been warned.

First Subject: Fatmen Painting their upper bodies in a display of love for their team. Is it akin to that of the worshipping of ancient mythical heroes by naming their children after the sons of the gods? Or more akin to war paint of old times, a epidermal raising of colors, flashing of feathers and screaming at the other guy to get off their turf? ...actually since that's what most of them say that actually makes sense in a really fucked up fashion.

Second Subject: Dignity

Dear lord how the HELL can they stand to dress like that, CLOWN WIGS ARE BAD MMKAY OH GOD PAINTED MANBOOBS... See? My reaction to football over-fans in a nutshell. I like dressing up sometimes I admit it, but..augh. That scares me. How the heck can they go out in public like that and not feel like their diginity is being assaulted? ...or maybe it's like they are comfortable enough in their own sense of dignity, ability to hold their head high and smile after looking like the bastard child of bozo the clown and a jersey that they do this ritually every time there's a game. Like the guys who like dressing up like women sometimes because they're confident enough as a man to dress like a woman sometimes for fun.

...

...Painted manboobs still gross me out. :P

Have you ever seen a game at the Oakland Raiders' home stadium?

They don't call it "The Black Hole" for nothing. ;p
