If you don't already have it, I recommend FF5 with Adblock Plus or Chrome with Adblock (which now works much better than it used to in Chrome). You'll get signed up for automatic definition updates from something like Easylist. Also, with some popup blockers (and the Adblock software), you can whitelist certain websites or pages so that they're never affected. I do it sparingly, but it's useful.

Virus/malware/adware developers belong in the Special Hell.
