crazyfurries: (real life)

I have only recently just made several discoveries, regarding my current situation with the house, and where I'm going to be ending up in a few months. Specifically I just found out two days ago that the estate manager is going to get an early jump on selling the house.

Because the Market for houses is taking another downturn for about five years and we would bankrupt ourselves paying taxes on the house for that long.

So now, more than ever, i really need help. I've got to find places to live, Sue's more than willing to help me out in funding a move and helping pay for things...

But I need to find a place to live. I've never lived outside of this house for more than a week at most, and even less time spent out of state. Part of the entire REASON for me leaving on the trip around the US is to see if I can find a new place to live. To start again.

This isn't all happy fun touristy times. So please, I plan to do this in September through October and into November, by spending at minimum a week in each destination. More to it, the more places I add to the list, the more I save on cumulative travel expenses.

Are you looking for places to stay, or cities to check out? Unfortunately I can't help with the former, being as I'm crashing in a friend's guestroom already while I try to make a move, but if you're looking into cities, I can tell you about the places I've lived in the Midwest – Iowa City, Iowa and Lincoln, Nebraska. (Both are pretty cheap (Lincoln more than IC), have good culture (Iowa City's is based more around the student population and the Writers Workshop, whereas Lincoln has more community things), and Iowa City at least is very walkable. Iowa has been doing pretty well on unemployment, Nebraska is not as good as Iowa, I think, but still not bad compared to the rest of the nation. Iowa is more liberal, Nebraska more conservative, though Iowa City and Lincoln are both more liberal than the rest of their states. Etc.)
