This might be a silly question but, does this lab have a panel ceiling with panels missing?
I work in a store with such a ceiling in a strip mall, sound carries rather well through that space above the panels and the chinese food place two stores down is missing panels, so we hear them working and moving stuff around rather easily.
Used to freak me out when the store was closed and i was in there because I'd hear stuff going on but I would be unable to see anyone who was doing it. Took me a while to realize it was carrying through a small passage from 2 stores down.
Just double checking.... you didn't happen to kill some old guy in the night because his eye creeped you out and bury him beneath the floor boards did you?
Then agian if that was the case it would be a tell tale heart you'd be hearing and not breathing. *flrrd*
At any rate, when stuff like that happens it always makes me wish I had my dog around. Not because that pathetic terrier could fight anything off, no, he's a wig out detector. My dog wigs out at the slightest provocation meaning if he doesn't wig out at a sound, then it mustn't be anything worth wigging out over.
That is funky though, unless somebody left a program running on one of the other pc's like a screen saver or something that would make a breathing noise.
Eh, Windows boxes aren't nearly as hot as UNIX boxes are, "Pipe your output to my input!" wich would like something like 'cat daddy | grep mommy > kid'
