...cause Ion my wee laptop is in the shop once again, tahnkfully covered by my geeksquad tech support insurance.

and I'm buying a new computer. Well. New to me.

aaaand this coming Tuesday is my very first...root canal. Liquid diet, antibiotics and painkillers hoor- wait that not right.

Cam, I am greatly appreciating the ways you have VASTLY expanded my dictionary of cussing words. So very, very grateful. And if this turns out to be malware, I will find the large incontinent St. Bernard, and add in the Tibetan Mastiff trained to attack people who put out small fires.

State of the Car: Turns out it WAS NOT THE FUEL LINE AND THE IMPENDING DOOM OF $$$$ OUT THE WINDOW. The fuel filter had corroded away to rust and salt. $60 and a half hour later I was out of the shop.

State of the Conprep: 45% packed, most of which is due to A) Stuff in the Wash, B) I need some of this stuff in the morning and C) I'm not packing until after work tomorrow and staying the night at a friend's house. I've got to track down a lid for my embroidery floss box.

State of the work: Bread and pasta tomorrow. It looks like we're good on ravioli at least.

Me? I'm tired and i've got cats to look after for another day or two. G'night all.

...oh, and I'll be slow at things online for a few days. CONTIEMS SOON.

Hello funny humans, this is Newton the Satyr matriarch from Fuzzy's head. I'm making a public announcement as she is indisposed at the moment. The final tally after having spent 6 hours cleaning out her mother's room today...

38 bags of clothing for goodwill

5 boxes of clothes

4 copypaper boxes of BOOKS.

2 clear rubbermaid totes of linens and wool blankets

4 rubbermaid totes of fabric for the memory quilts

$1237 in mom's top drawer.

Furniture at this time is not being counted. It will be tallied at a later date.

This covers all expressions.

Excuse me, I need to go sedate her again before we take her to someplace to decompress.

I will kill you and hang your entrails as a warning to others if you decide to visit me for an entire night again.

In slightly better news I found out that axle strength does not matter in building the cart. It is the strength of it's floorboards which matter. At least if this guide to rustic home is anything to go by for it's specs on how to build a handcart. I'd have to check with someone capable of woodworking and carpentry to know if 1 1/2 in plywood would hold more than 500 lbs.

...and I'm awake enough to right now be witnessing my brother Martin as he sneezes and wheezes his way into a morning. And insists that he is 'fine'.

Real convincing bro.

Sorta. she might not be losing the lung now according to the docs and the coordinator, it all depends on how the biopsy comes back from the labs Monday. And she's not leaving St. Nicholaus hospital anytime soon either, every doctor is agreeing that she shouldn't be home now, and needs to rest in a hospital with professionals who will enforce the shit out of her drug regime, and her resting, among other things.

Me? right now I'm relieved since I got to talk to her today, but she was still very forgetful of things she'd said even five minutes prior. When I pointed it out she placed blame onto the drugs but I don't think she's entirely out of the woods yet, the drugs made her hands shake so much she could barely get the food to her own mouth.

Also? NOT VISITING HER AGAIN. Woman tried to rope me into helping her walk to the bathroom in her hospital gown, while she was still hooked up to the tubes and wires... And I AM NOT THE FUCK ASS A REGISTERED OR EVEN KNOWLEDGABLE NURSING MEDICAL TYPE.

Got call just before I had to run into work for the menu and wine tasting that the lungs were declared non-viable due to defects. So no transplant for Mom, but at least this round Bob was ready for the entire shebang.

Thanks again to all who offered their good thoughts and support.

AWAKE NOW

SO!

Not ten minutes ago I was asleep in bed and groggily dreaming about talking on the phone with mom as usual for the morning routine.

Right on the dot, at 10 am, mom calls as my usual wake up call. Except she's calling from her cellphone.

She's got a call at 7am this morning.

There's a possible lung transplant in Chicago.

And that's all they know and she's almost there right now.

Hggggnaaaahaaaahaaah.

No need sleepz now kthnx.

Well poo.

So, my brother was over playing for a european football league in Austria. Keyword. Was. See he's not going to get paid now. The team had a contract that was mostly about them helping set up and take down concert equipment when there weren't any games on. Cashyano.

Except that contract has fallen through for the team.

And Martin's over there, trying to get hoops jumped to transfer to another team in a different country with a Visa but gods only know if that'll work.

So he might be flying back home and here as early as next week.

This sucks for him, because he is not getting paid and I have no doubt that when he gets home he will be in a seriously foul mood.

Which means cleaning. On top of the yardwork and the 12hr shift job about to start.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

I might not have much free time this week.

Okay, emergency state of the fuzzy address.

Sine 1996 my mom has been diagnosed with Alpha 1 Antitripsin Disorder (google it, PLEASE.) which is a degenerative lung condition, and for the past 7 years she's been on oxygen.

For the past 3 years she's been jumping through every hoop with the transplant coordinator for a lung transplant. Today, while we were staying as a vacation at a friend's house and finishing up lunch, she got a Call.

There's a single right lung in Chicago.

This is mixed news, they haven't YET gotten the crossmatching done for her bloodtype and the donor's yet. 15-75 minutes away from that little nugget of news. A single lung isn't good because her other bad lung will likely keep expanding and push the new one out, decreasing her odds of survival (not to mention she'll be banned for life from pomegranates and grapefruits due to the medications she'll be taking after the transplant).

We're actually praying it isn't a match but we're going to have to go down to Chicago anyways just in case.

Milliways friends, PLEASE PASS THIS EMERGENCY NOTICE ON.

Okay, either something I ate yesterday didn't agree with me or I just picked up a stomach bug and a nasty one at that.

From 2 am upwards it was an 'in the cozy bed hole for 35-55 minutes and running to the bathroom for 10-15 in between; kind of night and looking out at the snow-covered town this morning it's not looking much better.

Drinking my fluids because...heh...flu-ids.

I don't think I'll be good for much today folks.

Sorry.

Left AC power supply/adapter at library yesterday, likely gone for good.

Looking at $35 to replace it.

BUGGERIT.

crazyfurries: a cranky abbysinnian kitten (experimental cooking)
...should I do a food blog?

Main reasons I haven't started one, outside of posting a few recipes here, are these.

1) (biggest issue) ...I don't measure during my cooking experiments. Not accurately anyway. sure I'll base most of the experiments off of a recipe I might find online or specifically look up. Like Tempura. or Risotto. From there I just start messing around and it doesn't SEEM that origional or creative to me.

2) Other Foodie Blogs. They do food blogging a HELL of a lot better, with lovely photos and strange fruits. I wanna try a kiwano melon damnit. I see them so often in the foodie blogs from the west coast. I know wisconsin has some artisian cheeses and heritage fruits growing here, but usually they're way out of my price bracket.

3) I go squueeeeeeeeeeOMNOMNOM on my experiments and forget more often that I actually write about them in here. I haven't kept track of how many bentos I've done, but it's probably up in the hundreds by now. At least 200.

So. Thoughts?

If there are at least 5 comments by 8pm central time, I'll post the fried spinach chicken rolls recipe.

Hokay. Next person who decides to chew on my ear about the healthcare bill vote is going to wear their own ass for a hat.

I'm getting it from both sides and right now I'm just tired of it.

It's a big hooplalafuckit of people yelling about how things are going to end up getting unbalanced and change everything and here's a news flash.

IT'S ALWAYS CHANGING.

Some people shouldn't be making death threats.

The new system has flaws.

There.

Now get off my lawn.

AAUUUGH.

The sinuses are still attempting to summon shoggoths.

Onion soup for all meals yesterday does not seem to have made a dent yet. Other than what you would expect.

I've got a month and a half to scramble to get things together. Paypal is waiting for my darling bank to give the goods for the supplies.

What I need to make between March 5th and now.

Dobuku or Happi Coat: Whichever takes less fabric

Hakama pants

kosode undergarment:length measurements taken. Work will commence after I iron out the fabric flat tomorrow. I've got more than 3 freaking yards of it.
Obi: ...need to dig through my fabric supplies but I think I can do a simple embroider on a sash and wear that.

Tabi: (Might cheat and make fake-ish ones from white gym socks)

Sandals: Have idea involved braided scraps of fabric from projects, something like a braided rug?

Get registered with Couch surfing for possible place to STAY: DONE, now to find someone

Purchase fabric for Hakama and Coat: DONE jesus I need to keep track of Jo Ann's sales because 6 yards for 75 cents a yard for a very light denim which is perfect? =D!! DONE. Kosode is going to be made from some unbleached muslin that I got in a garage sale and washed. Scraps will be used for embroider projects.

Bento business stuff
Design brand 'tags' to be printed on cardstock and stapled to bags of goods

Make 15 simple furoshiki $5(five red, five blue, five green, with white fabric)

Make 5 complex furoshiki $10 (use vintage cloth with red, blue, green and 2 white)

Make 3 pumpkin bag furoshiki ($30, basically windfall item)

Either find an old tall wicker wastebasket or see if there's someone who can build a simple wooden backpack of sorts. Otherwise I'll just have to pack and stash a large amount of stock in the car and carry small amounts through the con each day in the wicker picnic basket.
