A long long photo post of fancy arty lunches!

First! Yesterday's spur-of-the-moment bento (I didn't plan to make one, but the weather was super-nice and the idea just struck me)

Lil sidecar filled with bluebird onigiri, carrot coins and a hardboiled egg! Wishin' I had gotten some edamame to use as lil bird eggs, but you work with what you got.

Bottom tier Got fancy with all bits of leftovers, used premade frozen rice and leftover baked squash with some sourcream for fake risotto onigiri, leftover lime-dill chicken strips and raspberries with the salt and soy sauce bottles.

Top tier: more not!Risotto onigiri, carrot coins, a tea egg with the yolk removed and filled with raspberries

Bottom tier: currychickenstock onigiri with nori and sandwich meat accents, half a tea egg and raspberries

Top Tier: other half of a tea egg, carrot coins and pomegranate seeds

Bottom tier: carrot coins, brocolli, and a babybel cheddar cheese

Top tier: 2 chick-shaped chickenstock onigiri in sandwichmeat nests, minibagel with creamcheese and sandwichmeat

2-for oneday

Sidecar lunch, I had a long day ahead so I made 2 meals
chocolate pancake sandwich (ham and sharpcheddar cheese inside) and a honeycrisp applebunny!

2-tier dinner!

Bottom Tier: hotdog octopi, spicy dipping sauce, cashews, dried cranberries

Top Tier: Brussel Sprouts, plain onigiri, soy-sauced sliced eggwhites in the cup

Bottom tier: homemade experimental baked squash-potato croquettes and container of marinara dipping sauce (not picture)
Top Tier: Soy skewered chicken thigh tidbits, brocolli, pearchunks and dried cranberries

Bottom tier: granny smith apple bunnies and blood orange segments

Top Tier: Venison summer sausage slices, sharp cheddar and an apple bunny, didn't have time for onigiri to make carb, so I just substituted with a lot of fruit

Bottom tier: Carrot coins, brocolli, divider onigiri with nori accents pasted with wasabi, soysauce bottle

Top Tier: 2 mini chocolate pancake sandwiches, last of my experimental croquettes with marinara sauce.

...whew.

this makes me want to bento so badly, but I just don't think I'm that creative.

and I'm bad with details in food, although my mini meatloafs would fit in a bento nicely.

if you've got a mini muffin pan you could do mini corn muffins!

and silcone baking cups are hella cheap to get at craft stores, and work great for keeping veggies outta meatjuice.
