Okay! So today was actually somewhat productive!

I deboned five pairs of old tatty jeans from the stockpile I've got in the basement into big chunks of denim, a few pockets and smaller chunks and their button closures.

I then spent several hours piecing the bigger chunks together in strips 16 inches wide for the project. What am I making?

A recycled denim kimono.

And here's the thing of it, denim is NOT too heavy for kimono fabric. I've made one out of fashion denim already. Up until about 120 or so years ago, Japan's working class wore kimonos dyed with indigo and made out of HEMP. Any of you who have felt cheap hemp fabric knows how heavy that stuff is.

So! I've got many little plans, but what I hope to accomplish here is a kimono someone might make in Bordertown. Yes, I'm making a Bordertown costume shutupalreadyiknowIamanerd. I have a few ways of going about this, and YES they will likely feature mythological or folk story references that have special meaning to me, along with bandnames.

Option A(fast method): Once I finish sewing the strips together I start painting bits and pieces onto the parts for the kimono. Not superfancyass painting, but something more like someone's homemade band patch paintings.

Option B(long method): I Embroider The SHIT out of each and every panel for the kimono. No set plans, just doodle stitching everything.

Option C (medium): A combination of the two previous methods, some painting, some embroidering.
